Opening Session
Tuesday, April 12; 5:00-6:30 pm

The 2005 Annual Conference Program Committee and a few special surprise guests will welcome participants in a lively and informative opening session, developed to help everyone make the most of their conference experience. This session will serve as an introduction to the conference and is designed to help attendees better "navigate" the three-day learning event. It will be particularly useful for newcomers as an orientation to the full spectrum of activities available.

This session will establish two key themes: networking and emphasizing the first "I" in ISPI. From this opening event focused on "making connections" and the traditional Cracker Barrel to the International Room and the ISPI Community Center, this year's conference is designed to facilitate networking across geographies and disciplines. Everyone attending receives a special Conference Passport, which will serve as a guide for networking throughout the conference.

The opening event will get participants off to a great start in using their Passports. It will help everyone capitalize on opportunities to make valuable connections with friends and colleagues from around the globe. You can expect a fun and engaging start to your conference voyage, and perhaps win a prize along the way!

Opening Reception
Tuesday, April 12; 6:30-8:30 pm

The opening reception is your chance to meet with conference sponsors, awards of excellence recipients, and mingle with friends old and new while enjoying hors d'oeuvres and previewing all of the exciting events scheduled at the 2005 conference. Remember to bring your ISPI Conference Passports, as we officially kick-off the 2005 conference and set the stage for the days to come.

One opening reception ticket is included in your conference registration fee. Additional tickets may be purchased for spouses, guest, or local clients.

Conference Events for Certified Performance Technologists

More than 150 Certified Performance Technologists (CPTs) came together for an educational lunch at ISPI's 2004 Annual Conference in Tampa. The panel presentations focusing on "Lessons Learned in Implementing Performance Technology" received excellent reviews, as did the opportunity to share a meal with other CPTs. ISPI builds on the success of this inaugural CPT program with several events just for CPTs at this year's conference.

Lunch & Networking
Wednesday, April 13; 12:45-1:45 pm

A lunch for CPTs will take place on the first full day of the conference. This lunch provides an opportunity for CPTs attending the conference to meet and network with other CPTs.

CPT Performance Improvement Clinic
Wednesday, April 13; 2:00-5:30 pm

Directly after the CPT lunch, ISPI has arranged an intensive "double session" clinic exclusively for CPTs featuring several of the association's finest practitioners. Roger Addison, Judith Hale, Jim Hill, Roger Kaufman, Margo Murray, Geary Rummler, and Don Tosti will lead the program with assistance provided by Roger Chevalier, Carol Haig, Lynn Kearny, and Klaus Wittkuhn. This talented team of CPTs will facilitate your hands-on experience.

What makes great medical doctors valued by their patients? It is the depth of their diagnostic skills--the critical front-end work that sets these professionals apart from their colleagues. Look and listen as this group demonstrates their most effective tools and tactics for improving performance, and then coach you as you try out these resources.

As a result of attending this session, a CPT will be better able to:

  • Select and use appropriate tools and tactics to resolve performance issues
  • Recommend appropriate solutions to identified challenges and opportunities
  • Identify meaningful methods of evaluation

Re-Certification Points

By attending ISPI's Annual Conference, a CPT earns 12 points toward the 40 necessary to re-certify after the initial three-year certification.

CPT HomeHave you heard about the Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) designation? For many years, businesses have asked ISPI to develop a means of identifying qualified performance improvement specialists to contract with or employ. Members have also asked for a way to differentiate themselves in the marketplace. ISPI's CPT designation fulfills these needs by evaluating past accomplishments in ten Standards based on four principles and six steps that guide the performance improvement process.

Visit the CPT Home page for more information on the CPT designation.

Closing Banquet
Friday, April 15; 6:30 - 11:00 pm
(6:30 Reception, 7:00 Dinner & Dance)

The Closing Banquet is a time to celebrate the accomplishments of ISPI Award of Excellence recipients, welcome the newly elected ISPI Board of Directors, and spend time with friends and colleagues.

It's amazing how often we continue hunting in the same places to find something that we have already discovered isn't there. Keys…glasses…a wallet…performance. Yet, we still return to the same spots we searched before as though fixated. In this light-hearted, yet meaningful banquet talk "Looking for Performance in all the Wrong Places," invited speaker Harold Stolovitch humorously embarks us on a lifetime of performance pursuits that sometimes remind us of pink panther escapades. You'll be amused and enlightened as we travel through a series of Alice-in-Wonderland adventures, questing for performance in all the wrong places…desperately seeking to discover that prized performance treasure trove. You will leave the banquet with a map in hand that leads you directly to achieving your own desired performance goals.

Harold Stolovitch, PhD, CPT, past-president of ISPI and recipient of numerous awards for his contributions to learning and performance, is a man driven by a passion to help people achieve results they and their organizations value. For over 40 years, Harold has been a teacher, researcher, consultant, author and speaker, sharing his knowledge and creativity with those whose focus is workplace and personal performance success. He has authored more than 200 publications. Drawing from his work as a professor of instructional and performance technology, teacher in developing nations and consultant to many of the world's largest corporations, Harold's banquet address is aimed at both entertaining and enlightening us all.

Attire for the banquet ranges from business to formal wear. Tickets cost $55 and must be purchased in advance.
