2002/2003 Awards of Excellence Overview

ELIGIBILITY

With few exceptions, and within the limits of the qualifications listed for each award, all ISPI International members are eligible for an ISPI Award of Excellence. Provisions have been made in the evaluation process to avoid any conflict of interest between the evaluators and any individual, organization, product, or ISPI chapter submitted for an award. Members of ISPI’s Board of Directors and any members of the Awards Committee are not eligible for awards during their term. If a person is ineligible for this reason, any time limits that apply to an award will be adjusted when such person becomes eligible to submit.

CONFIDENTIALITY

The committee members who evaluate submissions will carefully respect the confidential and proprietary nature of any submission material and/or entrant.  To qualify, actual materials are necessary for evaluation. However, a mock-up or alternate may be used for display. If confidentiality is a concern, contact Ellen Kaplan, ISPI Sr. Director of Meetings at: 619.224.4900 or ellen@ispi.org

If you are interested in submitting your product for consideration, please review the four phases of the award process described below.

 I. NOMINATION PHASE

Most nominations are made by the individuals themselves (authors, developers, researchers, etc.). However, any ISPI member may nominate themselves or other ISPI members for an award.

A. Read the following to determine whether you should compete this year.

B. Ensure you meet the qualifying criteria.

C. If you are unsure which category best suits your product, submit a 100- word summary of your product to ellen@ispi.org

D. Download the proper submission packet of interest from this site.

E. Complete and return your submission by the October 25, 2002 deadline.

II. SUBMISSION PHASE

A. Download and Complete the appropriate Submission Packet.*

B. Return five complete sets of your completed submission. Include all appropriate documentation for arrival no later than October 25, 2002.

* If you are unsure about the submission category you should complete, refer to the Guidelines for Selecting an Awards of Excellence Category. If you are still unsure which category is right for you,  please provide a 100-word summary or description of the product you would like to submit for an award. This description will be sent to the Evaluation Committee to ensure that you are entering your product (s) in the appropriate award category.

Email your 100-word description to ellen@ispi.org

For questions contact, Ellen Kaplan, ISPI Sr. Director of Meetings at 619.224.4900; ellen@ispi.org

III. EVALUATION PHASE

Evaluation is criterion-based (i.e., all entrants whose submissions meet the defined criteria will receive awards). The evaluation of other submissions does not influence whether a particular submission receives an award. Panels of carefully selected evaluators will review the submissions in each category according to the established criteria and identify those submissions that meet the award criteria.

A Each submission that meets the award criteria will receive an award. If no submission meets the criteria, there will be no award in that category.

B. All entrants will be notified of their status (i.e., whether they are award recipients) by early January 2003.

Nominations may be made at any time, however it is best to review the guidelines as soon as possible to ensure adequate time to prepare your entry. Your submission must arrive by October 25, 2002 to the address specified in the submission packets.

C. Award recipients are expected to:

-     Share award submission materials at the Annual Conference & Expo.

-         Attend (or be represented at) the ISPI International Conference and Expo Closing Banquet, April 12-16, 2003 in Boston, Massachusetts.

-         Submit an article on your submission for publication in an ISPI publication.

IV. RECOGNITION & PARTICIPATION PHASE

Award recipients and their submissions will be recognized and showcased through various methods throughout the year.

Evaluation is criterion-based. There is no limit to the number of entrants who may qualify to receive an award. Award recipients receive recognition, acclaim, visibility, and personal satisfaction for their efforts.
