The world around us is changing – fast. Consultants and organizations alike must develop the skills to adapt to this new environment
or face becoming obsolete or irrelevant. Change management is no longer something you implement, It is something you live. It
becomes essential to how you operate.
Don’t know what design thinking is? Think it is only for creating new gadgets and toys? Check out the Stanford d.school's and IDEO’s perspectives on design thinking as a way to make our organizations, communities, and the world better.
This is your chance to get an exclusive inside look at the organizations developing the future of our field. This one-of-a-kind event
brings together a University (ODU), an ISPI Advocate (U.S. Coast Guard), and a local ISPI Chapter (Hampton Roads) to deliver a
unique research based learning and networking experience.

Description: Join us for a sneak peek at Victor Saad's philosophy and practice behind his Leap Year Project, and how it connects to Design Thinking.
August 29 @ 2pm EST
Before the conference is even kicked off, attendees will have the opportunity to attend one of several
"pre-conference field trips" to learn and observe how organizations are applying performance
improvement principles and practices to drive innovation and transformation.
After the field trips conclude, Symposium attendees will have three options to tailor their
professional development and networking experience.
We have kept the cost down to encourage maximum participation and full engagement of our
attendees. The gracious donation by ODU to allow us to use their new state of the art facilities is a
huge contributor to the low cost of the symposium. While we will not have all the food and beverage
amenities typically seen at large conference, our central location at ODU affords many nearby
lodging, dining, and entertainment options.

"I do want to share why I find that Design Thinking is so relevant to HPT and ISPI. As I was learning about HPT, I was attracted in how powerful of a systematic and systemic approach it was in identifying a gap and closing it (with a nod given to “finding opportunities” in addition to closing gaps). Design Thinking incorporates a forward-looking HPT-like systemic approach baked in from the start in developing an endeavor. When you dig into it, the ISPI "RSVP" standards overlay perfectly with Design Thinking."
