Managing Mentoring Processes
for Measured Results

Mentoring is a hot topic! Of
Training magazine's recent "Top 100 Companies," 77 companies reported they have mentoring processes. A diligent pursuit of data in these organizations found that most had been a "pilot" for 10 or 12 pairs and not expanded nor sustained. Question: What was missing? Answer: Measured results. Fad interventions are seductive! Think Zero-Defects, Quality Circles, or Total Quality.
Linking any intervention--especially a mentoring process--to business results is essential to success, scalability, and sustainability. This workshop provides guidelines and practice in the front-end strategies--needs/readiness assessment--and back end--evaluation and continuous improvement--to create sustainable mentoring processes. Participants can use this workshop as a clinic to tune up a floundering mentoring process or to jump-start an effective one.
Margo will share results from successful experiences over 35 years with hundreds of client organizations in 25 countries. Learn how organizations as diverse as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Wells Fargo Bank in the US, and public health groups in Africa, Asia, and Latin America have gained desired results at worker, workplace, and societal levels.
Objectives
Participants will practice:
- Readiness assessment to link the mentoring process to organization vision, mission, goals
- Creating goals for mentoring process impact
- Creating evaluation plans
- Data gathering techniques for baseline and post-intervention evaluation
- Monitoring and tracking strategies for measurement of results
Resources
Participants will work with the comprehensive
MMHA Mentoring Resource Kit (MRK), a value of $995! Using reproducible worksheets and checklists in the MRK, each individual will draft documents for the key phases of a facilitated mentoring process.
