What is a Virtual Institute?

ISPI is committed to expanding opportunities for education and professional development, as well as providing a space for our members to share their knowledge based on their skills, talents, and visions for the future. Our Virtual Institutes are a way to offer a low-fee, virtual-based classroom led by an expert, for a 2-hour professional development experience. We recognize that while budgets may be limited, the desire to continue to learn should not be confined to singular learning opportunities, especially in our field. We also recognize that ISPI has content experts ready and willing to share their knowledge.

In this session, we’ll take a look at some theories, practices, challenges and successes in determining how well an organization’s efforts actually deliver on purpose and mission.  Our focus will be on mission-directed organizations as they have a particularly interesting challenge: recipients of their services generally don’t provide familiar market feedback such as revenue, referrals or repeat business. Practitioners at all levels will have an opportunity to develop and share some approaches to measuring impact and societal consequence.

Instead of thinking about design models, we think about instructional methods and solutions over human performance technology (HPT). Participants will benefit from the session by learning how to reverse engineer the agile instructional design process by using a rapid performance analysis method that quickly pinpoints and confirms the performance problem(s).
