Developing an HR Optimization Plan

A fundamental model for driving and influencing organizational results

Do your HR Department transactions exceed organizational expectations? Does your transformational work cause internal groups to seek or resist your involvement? Do you have an optimization plan to guide your department as it evolves from where it is today to where you want to be?  This 2-day workshop will examine a methodology -- called Human Performance Technology -- for defining desired organizational results, ascertaining objectively your department’s current state, and building a measurable process to close the gap.

Participants will be able to:

  • Apply the methodology to their own situation and leave the workshop with an initial HR optimization plan.
  • Identify obstacles to organizational optimization, determine deliverables, and generate solutions.
  • Improve their HR systems and processes on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop an approach/language for becoming CREDIBLE performance consultants across the broader organization.

This workshop does not provides tips on improving benefit programs or how to perform better market surveys for compensation systems.

Brian Desautels

CPT is President and founder of [JB2D] Performance, Inc. Throughout his 25+ year career, his significant organizational contributions have been a result of remaining focused on optimizing individual and organizational performance. By guiding organizations to align processes, knowledge/skill requirements, resources and employee execution to the organization’s goals, he has enabled his clients to increase employee effectiveness. His specialties include human resource management, strategic performance systems development, organizational performance assessment and improvement, training & development and multi-modal instructional design (including e-learning, classroom, and self-study), and employee relations.

His previous corporate experience includes: Microsoft Corporation, Senior HR Manager; Esterline Technologies, Corporate HR Manager; Perry Drug Stores, Training & Management Development Manager; Harper-Grace Hospitals, Instructional Designer. As an external consultant, Brian’s engagements have included a variety of clients such as: the YWCA of Seattle, Microsoft Corporation, Recreational Equipment Inc (REI), Ford Motor Company, Boeing Aerospace, Harper-Grace Hospitals, Continental Forest Industries, and National Bank of Detroit. Brian has presented and been a featured speaker, on various HR topics, at numerous U.S. and International conferences and webinars. He has instructed undergraduate and graduate level courses in "Human Resource Management", "Employment Law", and "Learning Organizations" at the University of Phoenix.

Jane Brenneman, SPHR

In the course of a diverse 25-year career she is a known as a strategic and operationally focused human resources professional. Through organizational change and proactive business leadership she has focused her work on optimizing the performance of a company’s most important asset, the people. Jane’s work has and continues to focus on Organizational and Individual Development and Effectiveness, Team & Leadership Development, and Bench Strength and Succession Planning. She has worked as a strategic HR business partner to senior corporate executives to guide the development of performance, customer & market-driven organizations. She has served as a catalyst for innovative & impactful HR initiatives and is recognized for her leadership and counsel in driving for results during times of ambiguity, complexity and constant change. Jane has experience in publicly-traded global retail, municipally-owned hospitality, not-for-profit and privately-held service organizations. In addition to her consulting experience, her background includes over four years serving as SVP, HR for the YMCA of Greater Seattle; seven years as Director, HR with Starbucks Coffee Company; ten years as Manager, HR with the Washington State Convention & Trade Center; and, five years with Executive Search Firms. She is a member and former national board of directors of the Human Resources People and Strategy (HRPS); as well as a member of International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), Human Resources Planning Society (HRPS), and the Society for HR Management (SHRM). Long active within the Human Resources profession, Jane has presented at national and international conferences on a variety of HR topics and has served as adjunct faculty for the SPHR/PHR certification preparatory course.
